The 2025 Edition of The Luminary Series is created by acclaimed architect Ben Dobbin, Senior Partner at Foster + Partners, in partnership with The Dalmore’ s award-winning Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass, and with the support and expertise of Master Distiller Richard Paterson OBE.
Ben Dobbin is a British-born architect, designer, and digital artist. He studied architecture at Edinburgh University, where he developed an interest in the interaction between contemporary design and historical contexts.
In 2001 he joined globally-renowned architectural practice Foster + Partners, where he worked under the guidance of Norman Foster on notable projects, including The Gherkin building in London. Ben was design lead for Apple Park in California and most recently oversaw the completion of the revitalisation of the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco, where he now lives and heads up the Foster + Partners west coast office.
Gregg Glass is The Dalmore’s Master Whisky Maker, renowned for combining tradition with fascinating new ideas and whisky innovation. Awarded Master Distiller of the Year 2023 at the Global Icons of Whisky Awards 2023, Gregg works in partnership with Master Distiller Richard Paterson OBE and The Dalmore’s whisky making team.
Richard Paterson OBE is renowned as one of the greatest whisky makers of his generation. For over five decades, Richard has pushed the boundaries of what is possible in whisky production.
Inspired by the vision of The Dalmore’s founder, Sir Alexander Matheson, and the achievements of the Mackenzie family who came before him, Richard is admired around the world for his passion, creative flair and a catalogue of rare releases of The Dalmore.
The Dalmore has partnered with V&A Dundee, Scotland's design museum since 2020. The Luminary Series is the focal point of our collaboration, with each sculpture and decanter on display within the museum.
The Dalmore has donated the proceeds of each auction of The Rare to V&A Dundee. This will conclude with Luminary 2025 Edition - The Rare, to be auctioned at Sotheby's in May 2025.
