An enriched experience on the French Riviera - Part One

Set in the heart of the French Riviera at the legendary Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, the two-day launch event brought together friends of The Dalmore – tastemakers and cultural influencers – to discover the Cask Curation Series: The Red Wine Cask Edition - celebrating the union of red wine casks and Single Malt whisky.

Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat

An icon of the French Riviera since its opening in 1908, the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, exudes effortless glamour and a timeless appeal, seamlessly blending historic grandeur with modern luxury.

A welcome with delicious cocktails

The group, an eclectic mix of creative visionaries, arrived mid-afternoon at the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat for an intimate cocktail reception on the terrace.

In honour of the occasion, guests were welcomed with a bespoke whisky cocktail – the Highball Riviera. Created by Assistant Bar Manager, Mirko Rapelli, this refined composition of Amaro Nonino, lemon and mandarin shrub, elevated with The Dalmore Aged 12 Years, captured the vibrancy of the season and the true ‘spirit of travel’.

Unveiling the Red Wine Cask Edition

Guests were then welcomed to Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Cap, where The Red Wine Cask Edition set was showcased in its elegant blue Saffiano leather presentation case, framed by a stunning design piece - depicting the flora and fauna of the French Riviera, and the hotel landscaped gardens.

Next, the pinnacle of the event, an exclusive guided tasting of The Red Wine Cask Edition.

Guests savoured the 24 years, the 34 years and the 43 years from the edition, accompanied by a perfectly paired canapé for each.

For this instalment in the Cask Curation Series, The Dalmore’s Master Whisky Makers hand-selected three fresh 2023 Château Mont‑Redon red wine casks to finish each of the three Single Malts in this series.

In testament to The Dalmore’s Master Whisky Makers, the Red Wine Cask Edition perfectly illustrates how the same red wine casks can impact three whiskies of differing ages, bringing a unique layer of complexity to The Dalmore’s signature chocolate, orange and spice character.

An enriched dining experience

Our guests spent some time exploring the grounds of the hotel before re-convening for cocktails on the Sea View Terrace to enjoy The New York Sour x The Dalmore Red Wine Edition.

A simple idea with striking impact, this cocktail layered a bold red wine float over a classic Whisky Sour, transforming sharp citrus into something deeper. Confident, elegant, and visually arresting, this signature serve perfectly complimenting the golden glow of the setting sun that cast a radiant reflection on the Mediterranean Sea below.

As the night air cooled, our guests took their places for a fine dining experience, enjoying three courses – roasted scallop and chestnut mousse, Royal-style Angus beef and a sweet, crispy gavotte to finish - paired with complementary Château Mont‑Redon wines.

After a toast to the artistry of The Dalmore whisky makers, a speech of thanks was given by Pierre Fabre, fourth-generation winemaker and co-owner of Château Mont‑Redon.

This toast brought the first day of sensory adventures to a close, with many more to come on day two.
