Ben’s sculpture, which houses The Rare decanter, appears almost suspended in time and is a fine example of tensegrity, a contemporary style of architecture in which objects seem to be built by nature through precisely balanced tension and integrity.

Using this architectural approach, Ben has designed a sculpture of bronze, brass, and Scottish brown oak that is dynamic, bold and perfectly represents The Rare aged 52 years.

Matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks, The Rare is finished with an unparalleled combination of hand selected casks – Calvados vintage 1980, 1940 Colheita port pipe, tawny port pipe, Pedro Ximénez aged 40 years and rare Châteauneuf-du-Pape red wine casks.

It’s been really great to have the opportunity to work with people who are at the top of and leading their craft, and have such experience.

The great thing about both Gregg and Richard is their enthusiasm to share their knowledge and passion.
